Being a Malaysian without a proper Identification Card sounds impossible, but Syed Saddiq had a real-life story to tell.
“Her family and friends are here and like any of us, she speaks fluent Malay and can sing the national anthem. A Malaysian like any one of us.” Melissa was supposed to pursue her education in secondary school but unfortunately, she did not have the luxury to do so, despite scoring good results in UPSR.
Melissa started working as early as 14 years old, when she should be safe at school, studying like the others. Instead, she started selling Nasi Lemak, flowers and others to sustain her living. Saddiq also said that Melissa is not the only one who has yet to obtain her IC, despite being a Malaysian. No visit to the Residence Registration Department?
