Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary has pledged RM30 million to assist the government's efforts in aiding poor padi farmers. This follows a call from the Prime Minister to Syed Mokhtar for support. The government intends to distribute the allocation directly to padi farmers soon. This aid comes after Bernas previously channeled RM60 million to support padi farmers and the recent announcement of a padi floor price adjustment from RM1,300 to RM1,500 per tonne.
PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary has agreed to channel RM30mil in support of the government's efforts to aid poor padi farmers, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“I contacted Syed Mokhtar, and Alhamdulillah, he has agreed to allocate an additional RM30mil to support the government’s efforts in helping the poor paddy farmers. Anwar also expressed his appreciation to Bernas , which had previously channeled RM60mil to poor padi farmers together with the Government to ensure their welfare.
