Six in 10 Filipinos believe the spirit of the EDSA People Power Revolution is alive, a new poll by Social Weather Stations has found. Read the details here:
Released ahead of the 37th anniversary of the historic event on February 25, the survey, which was done from December 10 to 14, 2022, showed that 62% of adult Filipinos believe that the spirit of the revolution is alive, and 37% say otherwise.
Specifically, 22% of the 1,200 respondents think that it is "definitely alive" and 41% think that it is "somewhat alive."President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. hasFebruary 24, Friday, a special non-working day across the country to commemorate the EDSA People Power anniversary. According to the SWS survey, 57% of Filipinos think that it is still important to commemorate the revolution, while 42% believe that it is not important anymore.
Nearly half of the respondents indicated that only "few" of the EDSA People Power's promises were fulfilled, while 19% answered "most," 28% said "almost none or none," and 5% replied "all or nearly all." The survey, which was conducted through face-to-face interviews, had sampling error margins of ±2.8% for national percentages, and ±5.7% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. —
