KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A drug trafficker died after he jumped out of a police van in front of a condominium in Cheras here Wednesdau (May 8).
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the 43-year-old suspect was arrested by police officer from the Cheras district police headquarters at about 9.30 am for having in his possession ganja and ecstasy pills. “The suspect, who was in handcuffs, was accompanied by a policeman and the driver.
He said police would record statements from the two policemen, with the rank of Lance Corporal, who accompanied the suspect to see if there was negligence.“Further investigations will be carried out and for now, the case has been classified as sudden death," he said. In another development, Mazlan said the police were still trying to locate individuals who were in a Toyota Vellfire vehicle that fled the checkpoint at Jalan Pudu Wednesday.
“The number of individuals in the vehicle cannot be ascertained because it was heavily tinted, and people with information have been urged to come forward to facilitate investigations,” he said. On Wednesday, Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohd Fahmi Visunathan Abdullah said the police were forced to fire at the multi-purpose vehicle for attempting to escape from the inspection being conducted. - Bernama
