The suspect voluntarily went to the sheriff’s office to update his sex offender registration when he was arrested, authorities said.
Robert Pena, 39, was arrested Friday morning after he went to the station to update paperwork regarding his sex offender registration, BCSO said.in the 6800 block of Blue Lake Drive.
A report indicated that the man was doing drugs in his car as the deputy approached him, then put up a fight when he tried to arrest him. Because of heavy morning traffic and school zones in the area, BCSO did not pursue him. However, deputies were able to identify him.
