Nearly twenty-five years ago, DC's Superman battled Skynet and its army of ruthless killing machines in Superman vs. The Terminator: Death to the Future, a four-issue miniseries released by DC and Dark Horse Comics at the turn of the millennium, pitting two of the most iconic pop culture franchises in history against one another, and in the process creating the most powerful Terminator ever.

Cyborg Superman Was A Natural Proxy For Skynet Hank Henshaw debuted as Cyborg Superman in The Adventures of Superman #465, but was best utilized several years later during the "Death of Superman" storyline, where he was one of several imitators appearing after Superman was killed. While Henshaw has appeared frequently since, Superman vs. The Terminator was perhaps the second-best use of the character.
Ambitious in scope and approach, Superman vs. The Terminator: Death to the Future deserves to be critically reappraised nearly a quarter-century after its release. Out of print and difficult to find, the series would be a welcome piece of nostalgia to revisit for old and newer fans of both franchises. Though his appearance was brief, Death to the Future gave readers the perfect fusion of Superman and Terminator lore through its use of Cyborg Superman Hank Henshaw.
