SupermanAndLois season 3 has been hit with a MAJOR shocker as Jordan Elsass departs the series, leaving the role of Jonathan Kent to be recast.
Superman & Lois season 3 is losing an original cast member as Jordan Elsass is exiting the series, and the role of Jonathan Kent will officially be recast. Since the Arrowverse began in 2012, the franchise has managed to bring multiple iconic DC Comics characters to life. Starting with Arrow, the Green Arrow-centric drama was the first step in launching a massive shared DC TV universe from executive producer Greg Berlanti.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY One of the biggest changes was the addition of Superman & Lois, starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the respective titular characters. Despite initially being conceived as an Arrowverse spinoff, it was revealed in Superman & Lois season 2 that the DC drama actually takes place on an alternate Earth, rather than exist on Earth-Prime.
“Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast." This isn't the first time that an Arrowverse series has had to recast a major role or lost a key cast member. After Batwoman season 1, Ruby Rose exited the series after having only played Kate Kane for a short while. While the show shifted and introduced Ryan Wilder, played by Javicia Leslie, as the new lead, Batwoman did end up recasting Kate by having Krypton star Wallis Day take over, but in a limited capacity.
It's possible that Elsass will, down the line, open up and explain what caused him to exit Superman & Lois ahead of season 3. Since Superman & Lois season 3 is set to start filming in September, it remains to be seen if Elsass' exit will cause a delay as they will now need to start auditioning actors for Jonathan. It's also possible the next season will still commence as scheduled, but have Jonathan written out for a few episodes before a new actor has been picked.
