The Waratahs will have the Fijian side’s rampant home support to contend with as they look to turn around a 1-3 start to the season that has coach Darren Coleman under pressure.
Just 20 seconds before the break, Waratahs winger Mark Nawaqanitawase is shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-down. Fair call in my books. The Drua had numbers down the left edge there.
It’s been a remarkable little burst from the home side here to absolutely put the Waratahs on the back foot, six minutes out from half-time.Drua halfback Frank Lomani throws a cracker of a dummy and puts Iosefo Masi through a big hole. He runs more than half the field before palming off last defender Max Jorgensen to score another try. It’s been a disappointing 20-minute period for the Waratahs. Another try from the Drua before half-time and it could be lights out for the boys in sky blue.
NSW are throwing the ball around and keen to run out of their own end. Playing Fiji at their own game is sometimes fraught with danger.Max Jorgensen takes the first carry of the day but the Drua manage a counter-ruck and win back possession. I’d like to see that again, not sure a few blokes rolled away there.
