There’s at least one external bidder squaring off against Sun Cable’s billionaire backers, as MA Moelis and FTI Consulting collect first round of bids.

FTI did not say who the new bidder/bidders were but said its shortlist from the non-bonding indicative offers included “parties that are not existing Sun Cable shareholders”.

“Sun Cable’s primary and most developed project is the world’s largest solar energy infrastructure network, the Australia-Asia PowerLink . The sale process has advertised Sun Cable as a complete development, including AAPowerlink, and the sale continues to be progressed on that basis,” FTI said in a statement.Friction between Mike Cannon-Brookes and Andrew Forrest led Sun Cable into administration. Now it’s up for sale.
