Submit proposals, minister tells states against water tariff hike

SEVERAL states that have no plans to increase the water tariff have been asked to submit their own mechanisms to the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources, in an effort to provide clean water supply to the people. Minister Xavier Jayakumar said this is because the cost of preparing and managing treated water is high and remedial actions have to be taken to address the water crisis in the states.
