Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon seeks 'urgent discussions' with UK ministers over coronavirus testing backlog
Nicola Sturgeon has voiced"very serious concerns" about an apparent backlog of coronavirus test results.
Ms Sturgeon said the figures were"not yet complete", and suggested that schools going back in England could be causing a spike in demand for tests.The Department of Health and Social Care said a"significant" number of people had been seeking tests, including some"who do not have symptoms and are not otherwise eligible" - but that capacity was at its highest level ever.
"We have reason to be concerned that the figures that have been reported today are not complete, because some of the turnaround of the tests done in Scotland over yesterday is longer. "New booking slots and home testing kits are made available daily for those who need them and we are targeting testing capacity at the areas that need it most, including those where there is an outbreak, and prioritising at-risk groups.
