A health enforcement officer issues a notice to a man caught smoking in a restaurant at Meru Raya yesterday. — BernamaA total of 605 compounds, amounting to RM144,450, were issued to stubborn smokers who flouted the smoking ban in eateries on Jan 1, the first day of enforcement of the new law.
Noor Hisham, citing a summary of a survey conducted by the ministry, said most premises owners were cooperative and carried out their responsibilities in enforcing the ban at their respective eateries. Second-time offenders will not be given any reduction. A higher sum of RM 350 will be charged to third-time offenders.
