KUALA KEDAH (Bernama): Police will be stricter with monitoring to ensure tourists comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) set for the tourism bubble on the resort island of LAngkawi from Thursday (Sept 16).

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the Langkawi district police headquarters would mobilise and may increase personnel to ensure SOP compliance checks were conducted more effectively.

"They need to get approval at their place of residence. For instance, if they stay in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, they need to get written permission from Brickfields ,” he told reporters when visiting an area here under the enhanced movement control order on Sunday . Mazlan said air travellers did not require written permission from the police as announced by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin earlier in the day.

"There is no issue for fishermen to bring out their catch which can easily go bad... we allow them to bring it out,” he added.
