Netflix’s “The Crown” won seven honors including the best drama series at the 73rd Emmy Awards on Sunday, capping off a dominant performance for the streaming platform in a ceremony that highlighted the rapid shift in the television business away from traditional broadcast and cable TV....
“The Queen’s Gambit,” Netflix’s seven-episode show about a chess prodigy played by Anya Taylor-Joy won the best-limited series award, in another first for the streamer. Apple TV+’s show Ted Lasso clinched four awards including three acting trophies and the award for Outstanding Comedy Series—a major triumph for a streaming service that is not even two years old.
HBO scored multiple wins with its limited series “Mare of Easttown,” including Kate Winslet winning best lead actress in a limited series for her critically acclaimed portrayal of a grieving police detective. The comedy series “Hacks” which aired exclusively on Warner’s streaming platform HBO Max also took home three awards, including a best lead comedy actress trophy for Jean Smart.
