Severe tornado damage was reported near I-96 between the city of Williamston and village of Webberville, about 15 and 20 miles east-southeast of Lansing, respectively.Ahead of the storms, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center had upgraded the storm threat to a Level 3 out of 5 on Friday afternoon. “Damaging winds with localized significant severe wind gusts in excess of 75 mph, along with a few tornadoes, should be the primary hazards,” the center said.

As of 8:15 a.m. Central time Friday, nearly 450,000 customers were still without power in Michigan, over 200,000 in Ohio and nearly 40,000 in Pennsylvania, according to PowerOutage.US.
