Is there more rain on the way? The heaviest rain with this storm hitting the Bay Area has yet to come.
The heaviest rain with this storm has actually yet to come, andmodels show the potential for another system moving into the Bay Area later in the week, the National Weather Service said.
"The storm door is definitely open right now," Roger Gass, a meteorologist with the weather service's Monterey office, told SFGATE on the phone."It's going to be a fairly active next couple of days." The region picked up to a tenth of an inch to a quarter of an inch of rain on Sunday with some ridgetops and higher peaks recording over an inch. Mount Diablo in the East Bay measured 0.45 inch of rain and Mount Umunhum in the South Bay 0.63, the weather serviceGass explained that yesterday's waves of rain were driven by a parent storm system situated off the coast of the Pacific Northwest. That system will continue to send impulses into Northern California on Monday.
"There is more rain coming," Gass said at 7 a.m. on Monday."I see rain approaching the North Bay coast right. Rain chances will be possible throughout the day. There may be some breaks in the rain and breaks in the cloud cover. The heaviest and biggest rain will be tonight and through the early morning time frame"
The chances for rain will persist into Tuesday as the parent system drops southward, and into Wednesday as it pushes inland over Northern California.
