SIBU: Quick action by firemen prevented a major explosion from occurring after fire broke out at two detached house in Kampung Beladin, Pusa in Betong late on Saturday night (Dec 22).
State Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that the fire razed the house rented by the Beladin Fishermen Association, while the Beladin Rural Internet Centre was 40% destroyed.
The department said firemen acted quickly and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to a storehouse about 6m away from the association's rented house.The department received a distress call regarding the fire at 10.10pm. It took the seven firemen an hour and 40 minutes to control the fire, which was put out at about 11.50pm
