KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya has warned individuals against using the anti-graft body as a political tool.

She said this following a statement by the opposition that MACC should be fair in investigating corruption cases even if it involved people from the ruling government."We strive to be professional and we do not want to be used for this platform.

Latheefa was responding to a recent article quoting Sabah opposition leader Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, where he had expressed hope that a corruption case involving Shafie in 2017 will be reviewed. "Yes, nothing stops just because someone came into power. We only stopped if the case does not go beyond the initial complaint.

Latheefa said most often than not, someone would make a report to MACC just to tell the media"I have done it".
