Anwar Ibrahim is being sued by Muhyiddin Yassin over claims that the former Perikatan Nasional-led government did not resolve the issue of Felda setllers’ debts as promised.
Persatuan Anak Peneroka Kebangsaan president Mazlan Aliman said it would be more meaningful for Anwar’s administration and the opposition to set aside their differences and work together to help develop Felda. Mazlan said, in the same vein, Anwar’s announcement of the special incentive for the settlers on July 7 also offered much-awaited great relief.“Enough is enough, let Felda’s dark history teach us a lesson. What guarantees are there that embezzlement and corruption involving Felda’s funds are not repeated?” he said, adding that political will to turn things around must be proven.
He added that the government will continue to issue up to RM1 billion in sukuk to Felda annually for the next 10 years to “safeguard its survival”.
