Saturday is the final day to apply for a guaranteed income program in El Monte, California, that will provide $500 monthly payments to recipients. The program is intended to help mothers and will select 125 applicants in the city.

"Every month, the city will load $500 on the debit card. Individuals can use it to pay for goods and services at any location that accepts debit cards. The city will provide training on how to use the debit card for participants." Applications for this program have been open since March 27 and end Saturday, per the city's website.To be eligible, an applicant must live in El Monte, be a single female head of household with no spouse or partner in the house, and have children younger than 17 years old.
The recipients of this guaranteed income program will be selected by April 26, and the city expects the first payment to be sent out on June 1.
