In only three days, the chance for millions of people to receive an existing form of relief worth up to thousands of dollars will be gone.
As many as 10 million people who have not yet received unclaimed COVID-19 stimulus payments or child tax credits, which may be worth a combined total of up to $3,200, may be eligible. The deadline for individual filers with little or no income to complete a simplified tax return to see if they qualify for these payments is on Nov. 15, according to the Government Accountability Office.
Additionally, families are eligible for the child tax credit, which aims to reduce financial hardship and food insecurity. About 84% of children nationwide benefited from those credits between July and December 2021.Congress approved three waves of a total of $931 billion worth of stimulus checks as part of relief for the coronavirus pandemic for nearly 165 million people in 2020 and 2021.
