“I’m sure the money is a big part of it, but I don’t know what the other consequences are going to be, the punishments, whatever the fallout is in terms of them leaving the tour.”
Golf enthusiast Stephen Curry is intrigued by the reasons why some of the world’s best golfers are leaving the PGA Tour to join the controversial Saudi Arabian professional golf league.
“I am very curious as to what the whole kind of agreement is that makes these guys want to jump ship, especially right now,” Curry said. “I’m sure that will continue to show itself.” Dustin Johnson, ranked 13th in the world, on Tuesday became the latest golfer to resign from the PGA Tour to play in the contentious Saudi-backed tour, which is picking up steam and threatening the premier North American golf tour’s dominance. Johnson will join six-time major champion Phil Mickelson and American Kevin Na in participating in the inaugural LIV Golf tournament near London, which begins Friday.
