KUALA LUMPUR: Medical officers (MOs) should remain at their current housemanship training hospitals as a temporary placement, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Medical officers should remain at their current housemanship training hospitals as a temporary placement, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said that the Human Resource Division of the Health Ministry through a letter dated Feb 7 has notified all states and training hospitals. Those undergoing housemanship training at the University Hospitals will be relocated to a nearby or appropriate public hospital, he said in a statement released in response to the issue of delay in confirming the first batch of contract house officers for a permanent or contract MO posts highlighted in The Star yesterday.

However, the officer may be posted to other temporary placement, upon request, subjected to certain conditions, he said. The ministry is currently processing both the permanent or contract appointments for HOs who have completed their training and the actual placement will be determined after the process is finalised, he said.
