Statistics have revealed that of the 328,424 children that contacted the Kids Helpline last year, only two in five were able to reach a counsellor due to a shortage of counsellors able to answer calls.
Tracy Adams, the CEO of Yourtown told Sky News the wait time for the hotline is so long that young people disengage.
“If a young person doesn’t wait on hold, they simply drop out of the queue,” Ms Adams told Sky News host Amanda Stoker. “That’s really a deep concern; how many of them take that one moment to reach out for help and then the wait time is so long that they disengage.”

‘Weird racial dimension’: Actress’ comment about ‘terribly white’ royal balcony was ‘pathetic’Actress Adjoa Andoh's comments about the royal balcony being “terribly white” is a “terribly bad view,” according to Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan. “I would go as far as to call it race-baiting, it’s drawing some weird racial dimension to a family we know the senior members are white, we know their kids are white,” Mr Morgan said. “What’s the problem? They made the service and the procession more multicultural than anything of its kind in the history of the world probably. “And all I’m hearing is ‘they’re all terribly white’ – it’s pathetic.”
