State polls: Applications for postal votes open on June 15, says EC

PETALING JAYA: Applications for postal votes for the upcoming six state elections will be open from June 15, says the Election Commission.

The deadline for applications for those in the 1A category is three days before nomination day. Deadlines for those in the 1B and 1C categories are three and six days respectively after the special EC meeting to determine the dates of the polls.

Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are expected to dissolve their state assemblies this month to pave the way for elections that are speculated to be held in August. The EC's announcement comes as electoral rights groups have called for postal voting applications to be opened as early as possible.
