State polls: 40,000 cops to be deployed to ensure security

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 40,000 police personnel will be deployed for the upcoming elections in six states, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister said the police personnel will be deployed in the six states involved in the elections.

"The state elections loom nearer. An important component is safety and security, which falls under the purview of the police."Their main goal is to ensure safety and security, especially in the six states," he told a press conference after witnessing the handing over ceremonies for the IGP and Deputy IGP posts at the Police Training Centre on Thursday ."It is important for the rakyat to be able to exercise their duty as voters without any fear," he said.
