The city council of the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) has announced on Wednesday that a state of calamity has been declared in the entire island.
In a memo on Wednesday, it was declared that Igacos is experiencing a power crisis.'The State of Calamity has been declared in the entire Island Garden City of Samal in response to the ongoing power crisis,' the memo read. 'To mitigate the adverse impacts of this power crisis and ensure the welfare of our residents, the declaration of a state of calamity enables our government and relevant agencies to employ necessary measures swiftly.
'Given the situation wherein restoring enough power supply through submarine cable is out of sight, the provision of modular generator sets is the most immediate solution,' the council wrote.On Wednesday, the Samal council has decided to allocate P8.
