It is the second appearance at the tournament for the African champions following their debut showing in France four years ago and the other nations in the group include Argentina as well as Italy.
The Blue and Yellow feature in their tenth World Cup as their maiden showing happened way back in 1991, but missed out on the last edition in 2019. For Banyana, confidence in their camp is high on the back of their 2-0 victory over Costa Rica in a friendly encounter played in Christchurch last weekend.
Unlike the African champions, Sweden didn’t take to the field in the course of the previous weekend with their last match a 3-3 draw against Norway in April. In the four past meetings in all competitions, South Africa have yet to get a win over Sweden who have claimed three wins and bagged one draw in the process.
