Mamelodi Sundowns’ perfect record in the DStv Premiership will be put to the test against a fired up Stellenbosch FC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilians have won all of their seven matches to date and victory over Stellies will see them set a new record for the longest unbeaten run in the league, surpassing Kaizer Chiefs who hold the record 31 games without defeat.
Sundowns also managed to book a spot in the final of the MTN8 over the weekend after seeing off Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 aggregate and will meet Pirates in the final on October 7. However, the Maroons will fancy beating another giant - having edged Pirates 1-0 in the second-leg of the other MTN8 semi-final on Sunday though fell short on the away-goal rule.
Stellies are in 13th place on the table before losing their last league match 2-0 to Moroka Swallows, and will miss Jayden Adams due to suspension. Goals from Neo Maema, Peter Shalulile and Marcelo Allende guided Masandawana to a 3-0 win over Stellies in this fixture last season.
