StarWars art imagines what a live-action Cal Kestis series could look like based on the Jedi: Fallen Order video game.
A new piece of Star Wars fan art imagines Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis from Jedi: Fallen Order getting his own live-action Disney+ series. Released in 2019, Fallen Order is a single-player action game set in the Star Wars universe developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Whispers of Monaghan’s Cal Kestis possibly making his way into the live-action Star Wars universe have been making the rounds almost as soon as the original game hit shelves. They were intensified earlier this year when a BD unit, similar to Kestis’ droid BD-1 in the game, made its own live-action debut in The Book of Boba Fett.
While Lucasfilm has clearly been laying the groundwork to introduce elements from the Fallen Order game into live-action canon, whether or not Monaghan’s character will get the opportunity to appear in his own show remains to be seen. Though fans of the game are intimately familiar with the character and what he has to potentially offer the wider Star Wars universe, there are also many more fans of the films and shows who have not yet had an opportunity to be introduced to Cal Kestis.
Perhaps one of the biggest risks in developing a Cal Kestis series lies in the danger of re-treading already familiar ground. The time period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope has been well covered by multiple films and series so far, including Rogue One, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Rebels, The Bad Batch, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the upcoming Andor series. A Cal Kestis series would most likely fall within the same timeframe and risk oversaturating the era within Star Wars canon.
