Screen Rant interviews Star Trek Online's Al Rivera & Thomas Marrone & Star Trek: Resurgence's Dan Martin & JD Straw about their games crossing over.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek's video game universe remains a powerful force in gaming thanks to Cryptic Studios and Gearbox Pubishiing's long-running MMOPRG Star Trek Online and Dramatic Labs and Bruner House's Star Trek: Resurgence, a narrative-driven adventure set in the late 24th century. Now, the two games are joining forces.
Dan Martin: I'm Dan Martin. I'm the lead writer on Star Trek: Resurgence. I've been writing for games for 10 years, and I've been with Resurgence since before it even existed. Before it was called Star Trek: Resurgence. And I'm delighted to be here and talk with our fellow Star Trek gamers. Thomas Marrone: October 12th is the date. And it will be free. So people can just log into the game. We have a store interface where people can go to. There'll be a promotions tab, and they just go and claim the Resolute skin, and then it'll be available. We have a family of ships based on the Miranda class, and the Centaur is sort of lumped into that family, and that's the variant the Resolute is.
Al Rivera: It was actually CBS that reached out to us about whether or not we wanted to design the next Enterprise. This was a long time ago, this is before Picard came out. And so they didn't have any immediate plans to put it in any show. But they said they would recognize it as the official Enterprise-F. And so we held a contest for fans, and we got hundreds of submissions. And we narrowed it down to three or five, I can't remember. And Adam Ihle was the original designer of .
Let's talk a little bit about Star Trek: Resurgence. Epic story seen through the eyes of a lower decker engineer and the First Officer of a starship. Dan and JD, can you talk a little bit about creating those characters and the world while being true and authentic to Star Trek? JD Straw: Dan and Andrew gave me a lot of script moments that are like, "And then gameplay happens." And I ended up becoming kind of like the resident technobabble-ist. And I also jumped into the script to write some of the procedural stuff for Carter and Edsilar when they have to work something out, when they have to be sleuths.
