Gaming tycoon Stanley Ho's sister-in-law was in unhappy marriage when she first met former Hong Kong official Wilson Fung - who she is accused of giving HK$510,000 bribe

Gaming tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun’s sister-in-law had an unhappy marriage when she first met the Hong Kong official she is accused of bribing, the District Court heard on Tuesday.

Chan’s counsel Selwyn Yu SC called his client a housewife, loyal to her family and submissive towards her husband. Joseph Tse Wah-yuen SC, defending Fung, said Chan began investing in more properties in 2004, showing the court purchases for Jade Garden on Robinson Road and Bowen Place on Bowen Road. Parties do not dispute Chan settled the fee on September 28, 2004, using a cheque from her personal HSBC account.
