This spring’s theme for the estate is “Entertaining: You’re Invited,” highlighting those parties and relaxing moments. Stan Hywet is now open for the 2022 season. Visitors will see displays, photos and exhibits that show yet another aspect of how the Seiberlings lived: • Formal settings are laid out for dinner parties. And when dinner was ready, a servant would sound the chimes. The chimes are on display, as are many details about the support staff required to maintain the estate and the parties.
• One room is dedicated to entertaining guests waiting to be received. There was no standing around a foyer. The room held comfortable chairs with magazines of the day laid out - a home version of a waiting room.
