moscow covid19 Russia mendakwa menjadi pendahulu dalam perlumbaan bagi penghasilan vaksin Covid-19 apabila mengumumkan vaksin SputnikV pada Isnin.
Nama itu dipilih bagi merujuk kepada satelit pertama buatan manusia yang dilancarkan Kesatuan Soviet ke angkasa lepas pada 4 Oktober 1957.
Vaksin itu dibangunkan oleh institut penyelidikan Gamaleya dengan kerjasama kementerian pertahanan negara berkenaan. Beliau juga memberitahu pengeluaran dijangka bermula September ini dan 20 negara sudah membuat tempahan membabitkan lebih satu bilion dos. Dalam pada itu, Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia menegaskan pihaknya hanya meluluskan vaksin Covid-19 yang melepasi proses kelayakan yang ketat dan menyeluruh.
