The Springboks have the pack to overpower France up front and they need to play to their strengths in the RWC last eight.

The Springboks will be able to begin their earnest preparation for their Rugby World Cup quarter-final with France. When the Springboks faced France in Paris in November they didn’t help themselves up front with one forward sent off in the first half and Deon Fourie yellow carded late in the second. If the Springboks are able to keep all eight forwards on the park they could be a menace to the France pack.

“We zoomed into our game this past week and the coaches came up with plans on where we can improve so that we are at the level we need to be for the quarterfinal and to be in a position to play our best rugby, and the players bought into it, so it was a good training week.”Koch will have some part to play against France, either as a starter or off the bench.

France won’t want to be forced into too many early scrums which would sap the mobility from their dangerous loose forwards. The Springboks will want to dominate the setpiece and use it as a weapon to take France away from their strengths. At Rugby World Cups the Springboks have won five of their seven quarter-finals while France have won six of nine matches in the last eight.
