A Harris County District Court judge has denied bail in the case of a man accused of setting fire to multiple homes, assaulting his estranged wife and engaging in a standoff with a SWAT team at his home in Spring.
who appeared in court Tuesday in an orange jumpsuit, will remain in jail until his trial on two counts of arson, one count of terroristic threats against police officers, one count of violating a protective order and one count of aggravated assault of a family member, Judge Colleen Gaido ruled Tuesday at the end of a bond hearing.
“Nia and her family are happy with the judge for considering the motion to deny bond,” Assistant District Attorney Anthony Osso Jr. said after the hearing. “It was scary for them, and for her to hear Nia’s testimony and consider it, meant a lot to them.” Patino was arrested last week at his Spring home at the culmination of a series of quickly escalating events, according to court filings. He hadn’t appeared in any criminal court cases in Harris County until he was charged Dec. 26 with one count of assault of a family member, according to court records.
