Spongebob Squarepants and his pal, Sandy Cheeks, are flying to save Bikini Bottom in the first official image for the upcoming Sandy spin-off film Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie. The film will be based on the iconic animated television series of the same name which is currently in the midst of season 13 with season 14 already announced for 2024.

The movie's script was penned by the tandem of Tom J.
The film's narrative will follow Sandy and Spongebob as they travel to Sandy's native Texas to save Bikini Bottom from an evil scheme after the town and all its inhabitants are suddenly scooped up off the ocean floor. The movie's plot provides an opportunity to delve into some of the mysteries and plot holes surrounding Sandy's character such as who her family is and how she and Spongebob actually met.
