Professor of genetic epidemiology at King's College London, Tim Spector, urged his 621k instagram followers that investing in one simple item could change your life after he suffered a mini-stroke in his early 50s

Health expert Tim Spector is urging everyone to invest in an item that could potentially save their life for under €30.

He told Gloucestershire Live: "This device could save your life. High blood pressure is one of the major preventable causes of death, strokes and heart disease. In 2011, my life totally changed. I had double vision in the mountains and I found out my blood pressure had suddenly shot up." He added: "So I know how I'm doing and adjust my medication and also my lifestyle and what I eat. So taking control of your health is really important."

He also emphasised the importance of monitoring: "Regularly checking my blood pressure at home has been really useful to ensure my hypertension is properly controlled both through the correct medication and a number of lifestyle changes."
