Speeding was the most common traffic violation recorded during Johor's Ops Selamat, which ran for six days in celebration of the Chinese New Year. A total of 11,645 summonses were issued, with 3,963 related to speeding. This represents a decrease compared to 23,386 summonses issued during the same operation last year. Johor Police Chief Datuk M Kumar attributed the decline to increased public awareness through advocacy campaigns in addition to enforcement efforts. Fatal accidents also decreased to eight cases from 13, and deaths to eight from 16. Kumar reported that 40 individuals were arrested for various traffic offenses, with 23 arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the permitted limit.
