Controversial singer Speed Darlington has been granted bail by an Abuja court after the Nigeria Police Force arraigned him following public pressure. The court order stemmed from Okoye's petition challenging his continued detention by the police.
An Abuja Court has granted controversial singer, Darlington Okoye aka Speed Darlington bail. This followed the Nigeria Police Force bowing to pressure and arraigning him in court. Disclosing this via X, Darlington's lawyer, Deji Adeyanju wrote: “Police finally arraigns Speed Darlington in court. Bail application moved and granted. We are trying to perfect same.” The details of his bail are not yet public.
However, Okoye had recently petitioned DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja over his continued detention. In his petition, Okoye asked the DIG to comply with a court order challenging his continued detention by the police. The controversial singer was arrested after accusing Grammy award singer, Burna Boy of having an amoral relationship with embattled singer of the United States, Sean Combs aka P.Diddy. But, Justice M.S. Liman in the order issued on December 23, 2024, directed the police to either charge Okoye to court within 48 hours or release him unconditionally
