House Speaker Mike Johnson said Sunday he will try to advance wartime aid for Israel this week as he attempts the difficult task of winning House approval.

While Rep, Mike Turner, R-Ohio, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, said on "Meet The Press" Sunday that he believed that legislation would pass if brought to the floor this week, Johnson has been resisting passing the funding in its current form. He is instead seeking different ways of appropriating the funding for Ukraine, such as the aid being given as a loan or taking it from the seized assets of Russian oligarchs.

Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the latter of whom said on "Face the Nation" that Congress needed to act on this aid funding and has a commitment from the speaker that they will do so.
