Spain police arrest 16 in olive heist
Spanish police say 16 people have been arrested for the theft of 17,500kg of olives in the Las Vegas region, while five others are being investigated for their roles in the robberies. – AFP pic, March 17, 2023.
THIEVES operating in Las Vegas, a rural area near Spain’s capital Madrid, managed to steal 17.5 tonnes of olives from local farms before being busted, police said today as they confirmed 16 arrests. “The Guardia Civil has arrested and investigated 21 people behind the theft of 17,500kg of olives in the Las Vegas region,” police said, indicating 16 had been arrested and five others investigated.
