NYSE-listed Metals Acquisition Corp, which signed a $US1.1 billion deal to buy Glencore’s CSA copper mine a year ago, has put a $US125 million odd equity raising to fund managers to bed the acquisition.
Nearly a year after the deal was announced, the SPAC’s management was out chatting to local fund managers in the past week, keen to finally complete the transaction.
Investor sources said the acquisition’s headline number was unchanged at $US1.1 billion, but the funding mix between debt and equity had moved around. The deal had been set at $US375 million senior secured debt, $US175 million in mezzanine convertible debt, a $US90 million silver streaming agreement and the $US418.25 million in cash. The $US125 million equity raising should help the mine shed the SPAC shell and list on the New York Stock Exchange, amid a strong resources market.
