: Non-governmental organisations in Southern Thailand are requesting the new government, led by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, to pay serious attention to the peace issue in the region.
Paetongtarn, 38, was elected as Thailand’s prime minister in August. She is the youngest prime minister in Thailand’s history, and is expected to deliver her government policy statement on Thursday to mark the official start of her administration. “We hope that the government realise the importance of this issue for the sake of the people in Southern Thailand who yearn for peace and stability in the local economy.”
