A South Texas man has been sentenced to prison after 250 kilograms of liquid meth was found hidden in his gas tank.
Federal officials on Wednesday said Pedro Rodriguez III, 45, was ordered to serve 120 months in federal prison as he was convicted of possession with intent to distribute liquid meth.from the U.S. Attorney’s Office states that Rodriguez, from San Benito, was initially pulled over on Jan. 11 because he switched lanes without a turn signal and was found to have multiple pending state warrants.
Authorities took him into custody and searched his vehicle, where they found the drugs hidden inside an auxiliary gas tank, the release states. “Rodriguez admitted he knew the meth was inside the gas tank and had agreed to transport the narcotics from South Texas to Dallas,” the release adds. Rodriguez pleaded guilty to the charge on July 14. He will be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.
