INCHEON, South Korea—Though South Korea saw infections peak months ago, Hanaram Jang, a 33-year-old contact tracer in this Seoul suburb, has never been busier.
He has learned his iPhone only logs his last 100 phone calls—a threshold he hits daily. He sleeps just a few hours a night. The country’s first wave of mass cases in late February largely centered around a single church. But now, Mr. Jang and his four co-workers are chasing the unknown, trying to extinguish new pockets of infections before they spread too widely.
