South African Youth Choir to Share Their Story and Music in Free Concert

The Key of Hope Choir, a youth choir from Durban, South Africa, will perform a free concert at Hudson United Methodist Church on December 21st at 2 p.m. The children will share their talents and stories of overcoming adversity. This is the choir's second visit to the local church, following an invitation organized by church member Jackie Beam. Beam was captivated by the choir's joy and hope, even in the face of challenges. The Key of Hope ministry, founded by Dan and Rachel Smither, provides social and educational aid, creative arts programs, and discipleship to children.

Concerts during the holiday season are plentiful, but on Dec. 21 at 2 p.m., the Key of Hope Choir, a youth choir from Durban, South Africa , will perform a free concert at Hudson United Methodist Church.The children will be sharing not only their talents but their stories of overcoming great odds.It’s the second time the group has visited the local church following an invitation organized by church member Jackie Beam.

“But I feel like when Key of Hope comes along or came along… they gave me a meal and said, ‘God loves me’ then that made sense that there was something in front of me that connected me to Christ and there was a provision that was met.”Rachel said music is a universal language.“Music is a draw and a connection for everybody. It doesn't matter where you come from or what language you speak or even your culture, it supersedes all of that,” Rachel said.
