At least 17 young people are found dead in a tavern in East London, South Africa. Police say the cause is being investigated.

Ramaphosa said the victims were teenagers but it is unclear exactly how old they were. Earlier on Sunday, Siyanda Mananaa, a spokesperson for the Eastern Cape provincial health department, said the bodies of the victims were between 18 to 20 years old.

The President expects the law to take its course following investigations into the tragedy, the statement added. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation, Eastern Cape Police spokesperson Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana told CNN earlier.
