After an electrifying start to the Netball World Cup which saw SA triumph over Wales with a 61-50 win, the Spar Proteas made it two-in-two after emerging victorious against Sri Lanka earlier today with a scoreline of 87-32: Netball_SA NetballWorldCup
In another sold-out crowd rallying behind the home team, the Proteas showcased an impeccable performance from start to finish with Elmeré van der Berg and Nichole Taljaard combining in a strong opening quarter to put South Africa 15 points ahead.
Come half-time, the South African team filled their country’s heart with pride with a 45-18 lead after van der Berg converted 28 of 31 goal attempts. Despite a formidable effort made by Sri Lanka and following a number of changes in the second stanza, the Proteas continued to display seamless coordination, impeccable passing and a relentless attack that gained them a clinical win of 87-32.
