Sonos has reportedly laid off around 100 employees across multiple divisions. Affected staff include people from its marketing, product and engineering,
platform and infrastructure, and software quality departments.
The layoffs were confirmed by Patrick Spence, the company's CEO. “We made the difficult decision to say goodbye to approximately 100 team members representing 6% of the company,” Spence said. “This action was a difficult, but necessary, measure to ensure continued, meaningful investment in Sonos’ product roadmap while setting Sonos up for long term success.”It's not been a good year for the company.
Spence had earlier said that he has made it his mission to fix the app, and that he will not rest until those issues are addressed and 'have customers raving about Sonos again'. To that end, the brand has appointed board member Thomas Conrad as the person in charge of the app and all of its improvements, moving forward.
